jQuery 1.4 Release Candidate 1 is released! This should be the final pre-release build of jQuery 1.4 (alpha 1 and alpha 2 were released previously). Barring any catastrophic problems this code will become jQuery 1.4.

NOTE: If you’re using jQuery 1.4rc1 and you run into an error please make sure that you’re using the regular version of the code, it’ll make it easier to spot where the error is occurring.

How can I help?

To start, try dropping the above un-minified version of jQuery 1.4rc1 into a live application that you’re running. If you hit an exception or some weirdness occurs immediately email the jquery-dev list. Be sure to mention that you hit the bug in jQuery 1.4rc1! Please do so either Tuesday or early Wednesday, otherwise your report will likely get missed.

The final release (along with the full changelog) will occur this Thursday, on January 14th, coinciding with jQuery’s 4th birthday.
